Robin Hood story
Synopsis: rough draft
Hunter is a eighteen year old boy who lives at the end of the 1100s in England. One day, on a errand to another town, he is waylaid by a group of robbers. He ends up joining the group (why? I don't know...) and is soon being taught by the Earl of Huntington - Robert, or more commonly known as Robin Hood.
Robin is a rather bloodthirsty man who will behead victims and keeps the majority of the money for himself and his band. The townspeople around adore him, because he will rarely attack a villager. This isn't because he is stealing from the rich to give to the poor, but simply because the villagers don't have anything for him to steal.
Through the course of the book, Hunter watches as Robin mellows out, and in the end seeks pardon o the king and is appointed as headmaster of the Sherwood Forest. Hunter possibly marries, or becomes Robin's right hand man.
Genre:
Historical fiction (with quite a bit more fiction than history - simply because we don't know much about Robin Hood).
Progress:
Still formulating in my brain
Inspiration:
Learning about Robin Hood in history, and that originally he was portrayed as a fairly violent man. Pulling off of the little we do know about Robin Hood, I'm going to attempt to write a story that is true to the information we do have, and ends up promoting Robin Hood as not a hero who steals, but a hero who realizes stealing is wrong...
I feel like the Robin Hood hero we have now doesn't obey the command in the Bible to "honor the king," and I want to try and change that... This could be an epic fail.
